Question needs to police CUPC signalling traffic to 32kbps.

These are the CUPC generated traffic
RTP audio (not needed)
http/https access to Unity SOAP by CUPC
IMAP access to Unity
SIP
SOAP over https access to CUPS

The problem arises how can we identify http/https access of CUPC to other servers? Because web browsing also use same ports. If somebody open GUI access from candidate PC or UCCX server to CUPS/CUC , they will be matched for same access-list. Then finally actual CUPC traffic will get less than 32kbps bandwidth.

Any Experts to solve this problem?

Thanks samlink. I think certknowledge forum is more useful than OSL & CCBootcamp forums because more experienced guys seems use this forum.

Samlink , in your answer you forgot following.

UCCX server frequently send tcp 2748 traffic to CUCM (jtapti communication). CUPC also send same port & same IP address traffic.(I verified this using Wireshark) You count both types of traffic. Cisco ask to give 32k to CUPC only traffic.

Your ACL counts web browsing traffic (not by CUPC) also. This is not needed.

How about CUPC UDP port 69 traffic ? All configurations traverse between CUPC & CUCM through UDP 69 (TFTP) ; I verified this also by capturing packets.

Finally this solution provides less than 32k to CUPC.

Cheers.

Sam,

CUPC RTP streams use udp ports 16384 - 16424 only.

I relaise this topic has been silent for a while but after reading this a few times and doing some further research, I would have to disagree unless someone can clarify.

CUPC signalling only uses SIP directly to the Presence server, all other traffic from CUPC is either not signalling traffic or the destination is not the Presence server

CTI is correct in being signalling traffic however the traffic is destined for CUCM and not Presence
LDAP's destination is whatever directory is configured
IMAP's destination is Unity
SOAP (HTTP and HTTPS) is not signalling traffic

Hi lestatsa,

Your approach is wrong. CUPC register with CUCM using SIP.

Samlink's solution is perfect.

Cheers...

Guys,

Let's be more intelligent ..
CUPC works either in Softphone Mode or in Deskphone.
What does this mean?!!!
1. Softphone: It's registered as SIP endpoint with CUCM (Where 5060 being used).
2. Deskphone: It controls an IP phone via CTI (Computer Telephony Integration), Where TCP 2748 being used to communicate with CTIManager service on CUCM.

All; It's CCIE not CCNA, please do not memorize the answers and that set .. Study well .. paractice well .. then you will desereve your CCI number.
I did not wrote the coplete solution for this question because of this; I just wanted to highlight a point so we can change the way we think.

Finally; I hope everyone who studies to pass!!

Thank you,
TheBoss
